A Greeting -  Intro

 

Finnelgamin

 

Finnelgamin was a voice in the darkness in a dark time of my life. He wished to live a basic life, but I used him to tell a story of the stars in a pantheon of creatures explored in my other writings. If you are ever curious of the creatures, feel free to ask. This story begins as a diary of a time when my own mind was tearing itself apart in alcohol, loneliness, and suicidal ideation, spurned by hearing voices in my sleep tormenting my rest, telling me I did not have much longer to live.

It was sunny on Sunday, so I ventured out in the afternoon to enjoy the little park near my apartment building. It was filled with people walking hand-in-hand, and with dogs on leashes. A few of them sat on the flimsy little folding chairs sharing food on the feeble tables as birds trotted over to peck at the scraps that fell to the ground. A Greeting

Close your eyes and picture a place where you can go, where you can be at ease, where everything makes sense, and you can breathe free. It starts in darkness, how all things begin. It starts with a pleasing voice asking for help, until darkness replies. Borne out of loneliness deeper than any ocean, lost in the throes of the storming seas of life, afraid to begin, to wade through the waters where dangers reside. This is a slip of reality, and will be quite sad to witness, pathetic perhaps even, a sad escape, seeking sanctuary, and hidden behind silly names of that Who Sits Upon The Astral Seat. And yet, it will try to heal itself, by knowledge, by sharing, and knowing it was recorded before, live, while witnessing and feeling those things in real time. As soon as I entered that V-scape, a message popped up to greet me from the only person I’ve met there, Ledeon. As it had been upwards of a year since I'd last been in contact with him, it was a surprise. “Wow,” he said in the message. “You haven’t been on at all since I met you. I take it you didn’t like the Dark World?” A prompt popped up to reply, but I hesitated. When my eyes focused on the reply prompt, a text box popped open. It was speech recognition in the highest of forms. “I did,” I said, to myself in the middle of the town to compose a reply. “I was just dealing with a lot at home. A friend just had a baby, and this might be the last time I’m ever in this place. Honestly, I don’t even know what I’m doing here.” “Huh,” he replied.
