Chapter 11 - Find Me

The next day, I was back at the notebook with a wicked stomachache, and could only look back at what could have caused it. I even considered not showing up, but Rebecca would be upset after I’d already made plans to be here. As such, I was at the notebook, but not yet in the library. Thanks to JJ’s idea, Rebecca was notified when I entered, but my original idea was to be there unseen, to see how she acted when I wasn’t around. The problem was the childish and pure mind of JJ, but I was glad that Rebecca didn’t turn into my own personal porn channel. I had a feeling beast would one day hijack my mind and make her encounter an intense amount of sexual situations. In this manner, Redbecca took care of his desires. He stirred at the thought, and I entered the library for a dose of crotch-to-face upload. but Rebecca wasn’t there.

Only Mr. Barcode sat on the desk in a strange position. His arms were bent to degrees humans could not achieve. I was about to speak, but Barc readjusted himself to a standard body shape and popped into the air from the surface of the table.

“The beauty of being only part human,” he said. “Is that I can fly as long as I have energy. Also, this.” He dug a finger into his eye socket and plucked out one of his electronic eyes. Next, he mounted the eyeball to the back of his left hand, detached it at the wrist like a mechanical part, and tossed it my way. It flew right at me, but didn’t hit. At about four feet away, the hand opened up to five small jet engines at the tips of the fingers and hovered in place while the eyeball moved to look around. Barc landed and pulled out a screen from his chest of the live feed from the eyeball. Without a second thought, he handed over the tablet to me.

“Let’s take me out for a test drive, eh?” He asked. “I’m quite curious of this beast of yours, so keep watching.” The hand flew off up the stairs as I watched the screen. It went up the stairs and opened the door to the bathroom with ease. It was a hand, after all. Inside my mind, beast was already awake, trying to loosen his chains. I felt an erection tighten at anticipation of Kara or Rebecca inside. Their clothing were both on the floor of the dressing part. When the camera panned up, I felt a throb of beast shedding his chains as blood pumped into the obvious part of my body. They were both in the tub, naked among bubbles with smiles on their faces.

I felt beast walk out of his cage without strength to stop him. His smile revealed sharp teeth, but I hoped the gate would stop him. Back at the screen, both Kara and Rebecca looked to the camera, the floating hand with an eyeball. They were no longer smiling. Something long exited the inside of the tub in Kara’s hand and swung to break the feed, but beast could only salivate at what purpose the long item served in the water. There was no stopping him now. All I could do was use robot to take over as I fought him back into confinement. I turned to Barc who grinned brightly at my loss of control.

“JACK! LOOK UP!” I heard and looked to the top of the stairs where Rebecca stood naked with water still glistening on her skin. beast took over instantly, but there was no time for him to do anything as she leapt right at us. Somehow guided, the next I knew her legs were wrapped around my face. I knew exactly what was up against my mouth, and while beast still had control, he slipped his tongue inside, but the scene instantly changed when that happened. I saw Redbecca and her curtain as a bullfighter with a red sheet. Without hesitation, beast ran at her, but only found the sheet. With that, the sheet left my eyes to a darkness of Rebecca’s body over my face. The next thing I was painfully aware of was my tongue still being inside the soft opening. As I pulled it out, I heard a sigh, but felt only fear at what she’d say about it.

“Sorry,” Rebecca said, to my surprise. “There was no time to get dressed, so I transferred Redbecca with skin contact. With her and beast gone, neither of us care that I’m naked anymore, right?” I watched her step away naked and felt nothing. Redbecca was a brilliant idea.

“Why, thank you,” Rebecca said. “Sorry. I’ve been experimenting with reading minds, but you can probably set up protections if you want to.”

“I don’t have anything to hide from you,” I said. “I’m sorry that my tongue ended up inside your, umm… inside you.”

“My vagina, Jack,” Rebecca said. “You can say it. It’s not JJ here with me. We’re both adults free of desire. Usually people only get here by having a lot of sex and sleeping in the same bed. I’m sure you’ll have something like that soon enough, with someone real.”

“I hope,” I said. “But I’m afraid that I’m running out of time when it would be possible. The divide in my mind destroys the opportunities.”

“It doesn’t have to,” she said. “You, Jack, can seek. JJ can entice with silly joy, and beast can be let loose when you need to go primal on her ass. Or his ass. Whichever you prefer. You did make Finn first, after all.” I smiled at the conversation.

“Done! Fixed!” Mr. Barcode exclaimed and turned to us both with two eyes each of different color.

“I’m sorry this turned into dealing with beast again,” I said. “And sorry that my tongue ended up inside your vagina without intention. We were supposed to find Fyntn the Third and get Finn back, but I botched it.”

“I didn’t mind it much,” Rebecca said. “The tongue. As for Fyntn, I guess we’ll try tomorrow. It’s not like the gems are going anywhere. Just be here, Jack. Ok?”

“You got it,” I said, stood up, and waved to Kara who just appeared at the top of the stairs in clothes. I vanished.

break

Once more at coffee, I sat at the notebook on the following day considering if I’d just seen my own author, my writer. I was fairly sure his name was Alex Virtu and even though Kara had not seen him, he was a part of that story. I wanted to go into a rant about him, but Rebecca was waiting for me. I promised I’d be there today, and we’d give the void gems a try. I just spaced out in consideration of a slight dream I had this morning. It involved a co-worker who was taller than average folks, more on my wavelength. That was the pull toward her as a person, the ease of access and being able to meet her eyes without feeling like a giant that I was. I shook off the thoughts and entered Rebecca’s space in form. Before I could see anything, I felt her legs around my face, this time fully clothed. Within my mind, Redbecca closed the curtains once again on beast’s cage with a smile.

“Sorry,” I heard her say when the thighs unblocked my ears. “Figured it was best to take care of beast first.”

“How did you know where I’d show up?” I asked. Was I starting to be that predictable?

“You seem to gravitate to this one area of the library,” she replied. “The last few times you appeared in the same exact spot, so I figured I’d give it a go.” This spot. What was it about this spot that drew me to it? Did Tiarto die here? Did Garr? Did Miro fall through here? I trained my sight on the brown journal wedged under a leg on the solitary desk in the room. What could it have inside?

“We should try to get in contact with Fyntn,” I said to change the topic. “I promised I’d at least try so let’s give it a shot.” With full view of the library, I now saw that Kara and Mr. Barcode were with us. I wanted to ask where John and Danielle were, but fixing Finn and James took priority.

Now, how did one go about drawing out a being protecting a story from his own kind? Just thinking this thought would most often be enough. They were aware of the story, and when they arrived to it, so I tried to imagine that he appeared from a dimensional cut in this space, but nothing happened. This was a space beyond my reality, after all, and outside the Infinity Void. What Fyntn could need to get here, were directions, or some coordinates to find us. How did one make such things when the space itself did not exist anywhere?

“Oh, I know!” Rebecca burst out, as I remembered that she was experimenting with INVASIVE mind-reading. “Sorry, but I have an idea. If he just-”

“Mind-push it,” I said. “If you are already reading it, learn to go in reverse and push the idea into all of our minds. Explain it without talking.” Rebecca smiled and took a deep breath.

#PROJECT!# she thought, as the idea flooded my brain in multitude of hundreds.

#Dial back the strength,# I thought as the many repeats of the one idea vanished to explain itself. She wanted to use a book I’ve written about Fyntn to draw him into the void of a string with a metal cable. When I opened my eyes, it was already happening. I saw a blur of yellow grab hold of the dangling book in a dazzling space.

“Now, pull!” I shouted, as Barc reeled in the wire connected to his wrist. It was kind of secret agent of him, but I had to remind myself that he wasn’t fully human. The bundle of yellow cleared the opening and instantly vanished to his camouflage. Everyone froze in place as Mr. Barcode reeled in the book of Fyntn’s story only started recently.

“Fyntn?” I asked the room.

“This is reckless!” a voice responded. It was sharp to the ears, like everything about the Nth Goni. They had claws which could cut paths from anywhere to anywhere else, given they had an idea of where they meant to go.

“We need your help!” Rebecca called out to the room. Something like a feather touched down on her shoulder and I knew it was Fyntn. They were skilled climbers and could jump around with infinite ease. The camouflage made them experts at sneaking around in everyone’s stories. When Fyntn showed himself again, his claws were trained at Rebecca’s neck. This was the first time I felt fear spring to my chest. She couldn’t die in her own space, but the Nth Goni were not bound by the laws of my mind. Rebecca read that out of my brain and showed fear as well.

“WAIT!” I shouted. “Please don’t reset her! I need her!” Fyntn’s eyes shifted molten gold around, but the green gemstones were trained right on me. “Don’t make me into an enemy. Let her go.”

“She didn’t fulfill her purpose!” he screeched. “You made her to help you, but she became another freed character. This story deserves a reboot.” His mouth grinned and I felt instantly better. This was his attempt at a joke.

“Good one, Fyntn the Third,” I said and smiled. The little Goni jumped back into the air and used his claws to portal around the room to gain speed by way of gravity. At about mach twenty, he stopped right in front of my face.

“How’s my favorite rebellion going?” he asked with a less of a screech.

“Meet Rebecca,” I said, pointing to the girl he just threatened to kill and reset. Understandably, she was still shocked. “Kara told me that the Rahin considered her creation strike two. One more character like her, and I’d be denied my space in the Infinity Void, it seems.” Fyntn laughed which sounded like a baby giggle, a dolphin call, and a tiger growl all made into one. The Nth Goni were a strange race, but ever so powerful, and again, at odds with the Rahin and the order of the Keir.

“Listen, I gotta get to work,” I said to everyone. “Here, Fyntn.” I tossed him a button on a necklace that transformed him into a human being until he pressed it again. “Rebecca or Kara, tell him about the void gems you have and we’ll talk again tomorrow. Later.” I vanished from the space.

break

This time I appeared on top of a bookshelf, much to Rebecca’s surprise of crouching at the predicted spot with her legs apart.

“Hey,” I said. “You know, we don’t have to get beast situated with Redbecca all the time. I ran beast myself last night, so he’s sleeping in.” She was by herself this time, and I stayed up on the piece of furniture until she stopped posing.

“Making her might have been a mistake on my part,” Rebecca said. “But I feel so much better and clearer with her over at beast’s place, so could I still do this?” I wanted to debate that she could erase her creation just as easily, but wanted to know what happened to Finn and James. Did Fyntn get their void gems unstuck and glowing again?

“He didn’t,” Rebecca said, walking up to me as I descended the bookshelf by floating down. Her legs spread apart, and her hands pulled me down to a kneeling position until my face was up against her vulva. beast shook awake in his cage only to be closed off by a curtain of Redbecca. Rebecca sighed and stepped away.

“Boundaries, Rebby,” I said, and we both paused for a moment before bursting out in laughter. My mouth was just between her legs and I was warning her about boundaries. “But I meant the mind-reading. Just because you can do it, doesn’t mean you have to use it all the time. For example, you know I don’t wish you any ill will, so just leave my thoughts to myself. Alright?”

“Yeah, whatever,” Rebecca replied. “Your thoughts aren’t that fun anyway. beast thinks a lot of sexual things, and that’s fun to watch, while JJ thinks up a bunch of fun stuff like games and inventions, but I get what you mean. Having it on all the time makes the world too honest. Just yesterday after you left, Kara was wondering if I’d be into a threesome with her and James again, and while I’d be fine with it, how do I bring up such a thing from a stolen thought. Not to mention James is still a corrupted void gem.”

“So what did Fyntn say about the gems?” I asked. “Did he take a look?”

“Easier if I push the memory,” she said. “If you’re ok with it.” I nodded and we locked eyes as Rebecca’s irises gleamed once. A scene appeared in my mind from when I vanished. Fyntn put the button to his skin and got turned into a naked human man. The only thing that remained Goni were the molten gold eyes with gemstone pupils. He took a step, but fell.

“How do you walk in these bodies?” he asked, and was surprised by his non-screechy voice. “Didn’t have to be anatomically correct, but I guess I’ll try it out. Who wants to help me out?” The memory skipped past something, but Fyntn was now clothed and pressed the button to become his old Nth Goni self as the clothes shrank with him. I was fairly sure that Rebecca tested him out as a human, but she didn’t want to push the memory of it into my head.

“Yeah, those two got corrupted,” Fyntn said. “Usually, corrupted ones are no big deal. It happens more often than you might think. You see, the Rahin feed on chaos, but a corrupted void gem is frozen in time, kinda like they do to people who delve too deep into the idea of the Infinity Void.

“The Rahin have this device that corrupts gems and cleans them, but they don’t like sharing. Sometimes, a person will go find their own gem and get corrupted at the touch. The Rahin find it and clean the gem, but they also need an Nth goni to reset the story and lead them to a better path, without ever finding the void gems. So even if we do get these two out with a Rahin device, they will have to be rewound to before they were corrupted.”

“How far back?” Rebecca asked, thinking back to all the progress she made in calming Finn from being angry at his creator.

“I don’t know,” Fyntn said. “The very beginning would be best, but seeing as Finn was stolen away in the first place, not sure anything would remain. As for James, Kara would need to be there for him again, unless she was reset too, but then the little two would most likely not exist.” Rebecca looked to Kara who clutched Danielle in her arms from fear.

“No way,” Kara said. “There has to be another way. Why can’t that device just clean their gems and put them back in the void?”

“It’s possible,” Fyntn replied. “There are chances of brain damage if not reset. It’s a risk, but also I don’t have the Rahin device to clean gems. And I doubt they’d just let me have it, even if I’m a renegade of the Goni.”

“Steal it,” Rebecca said.

“I like the way you think, girlie,” he said. “It’s possible, but to get back here, I’d have to leave a claw behind.” Fyntn took out a hand and cut one of his fingers off. The claw was cosmic, shifting with spots of light, but gleaming like metal and a wavy surface. One side of the cone was bladed, while the other was rounded. It was more of a raindrop cone than a standard one. This was definitely a tool made for shredding straight cuts.

“Ouch,” Rebecca said, picking up the finger with the claw on it. “But very pretty.”

“Thanks,” Fyntn said. “Be careful how you move it around. A slash of the sharp edge in any space will cut reality.” He used another claw to cut a small slit in the air and used the back of the claw to smooth it closed.

“I’ll head out now,” he said. “Not that time is relevant in this instance. Just keep the claw somewhere open and I will come back like so.” He made a cut and ported to the ceiling where he slid two claws together to create a spark that spun into an opening showing Rebecca holding the claw.

“Later,” He said and cut another opening to vanish through. The memory cut out.

“That got abridged there are the end,” I said.

“Just trying to keep good time,” Rebecca replied. “I know you have to get to work.”

“I was going to ask you if you-.”

“Wanted a family and a past, yeah, I heard you,” she completed. “That was before I stopped using mind-reading. Maybe another time, Jack. Besides, we already have a sort of family.” I smiled and vanished.

break

I came back into the library as a specter, if only to see if Rebecca could find me and make me solid. beast awoke at the out-of-context lewdness while I found her at the desk. She felt a shiver and looked around, but found nothing. To my surprise, she shrugged and went back to reading something. I’d try having her make me form up by force another time.

“Hey,” I said, sitting on top of a bookshelf from a float. She glanced up without a word and went back to the book. I glided down to floor level and turned as someone else walked in. Thinking it Kara, I turned back to Rebecca and was shocked how reclusive she was acting.

“I see you met Bookbecca,” Rebecca said from the door. I felt a shiver of alert just as another figure dropped down from the ceiling onto the bookshelf where I sat prior. “And that’s Shadowbecca. I’m experimenting with divided consciousness.”

“Why?” I asked. “Don’t you know that dividing yourself breaks your mind? I don’t wish what I’ve done to myself onto anyone.”

“I’ve already divided with Redbecca,” she said. “And I’m only experimenting, Jack. I figured it would be good to have a sort of ninja hiding in the vicinity just in case Akier comes a-knockin’, but I also wanted to do reading. Kara hooked us up with books from other worlds. All the while, I get to have my freedom to expand the neighborhood AND explore it. Don’t worry, we can easily merge back together, like so.” Rebecca walked up to Bookbecca and absorbed her with a touch to the shoulder. Shadowbecca jumped into the air and landed into the original as if it was a chute, vanishing from sight. Right after, Rebecca sat down and spread her legs. I felt beast roar out and pumped up at the thought.

“Can we not?” I asked.

“Why not?” Rebecca asked. “We both benefit from it. beast and Redbecca are just made for each other. Literally.”

“I won’t always have Redbecca to keep beast occupied though, will I?” I countered. “Getting used to this measure just weakens my control over a part of my mind. It’s not a solution. I don’t think I can fully detach from my sexuality and savage passion that he represents. Ever.” All of a sudden I was aware of an erection developing on the form I had created in Rebecca’s space, no matter how much I tried to make it stop. I turned to Rebecca whose eyes had a gleam of red. This was bad. Without the routine of bringing them together active, beast and Redbecca called out to each other.

“Rebecca?” I asked, but she had that wicked grin on her lips with eyes ablaze. I felt beast knocking about his cage and made a decision. With the snap of my fingers, my mouth and Rebecca’s crotch got intently magnetized to opposite charges and slammed together allowing Redbecca to go into me. She wagged her finger disapprovingly in my mind, then drew her curtain on beast who was now as calm as a puppy. This was bad.

“This is bad,” I heard Rebecca muffled in between her thighs. With a snap, the magnetism dropped, but I felt a wet stain of drool in the middle.

“I’m sorry about that,” I said. “Do you want a change of pants?” Rebecca flicked her finger to switch pants in an instant.

“They’ve formed a dependence on each other,” she continued. “While I expected this, they’ve also gained strength.”

“That’s why I keep beast caged and chained up,” I said. “Maybe you should do the same with her.”

“I’d rather not, if I can avoid it.”

“Any news from Fyntn?” I asked.

“Nothing yet,” she said. “You think he’ll be ok? Stealing from the chaos-eaters can’t be easy.” I wondered if the Nth Goni could even go to that place where they were. Not that I knew where Rahins lived. My knowledge was behind on the times. I’d have to ask Kara about it.

“Where’s Kara?” I asked.

“At Eva’s,” she replied. “She became more intelligent just by interacting with Finn. Maybe he transferred some of it via sex somehow. Either way, she understands us, no longer just a weak A.I. on a routine.”

“That’s cool,” I said, but it was a little scary. Did she now act as an extension of Finn? How could she, if his void gem was corrupted? What would happen if his gem was cleansed? Too many unanswered questions remained. I dropped to the floor and looked to the ceiling. Rebecca ran up to my side thinking something was wrong.

“What’s wrong?” she asked, but I kicked her legs from underneath her while constructing a mattress for her to land on. With a motion, the ceiling vanished to the blue sky, but I snapped my fingers to make it a starry night full of stars.

“I wish this could be just this,” I said. “Relaxing with you in my mind. The worlds beyond this space aren’t under our control, so unpredictable and chaotic. Rebecca found my hand and took it up with hers into the stars above. The mattress morphed into a float and ascended into that star-filled space above Rebecca’s world.

“I’m glad you made me, Jack,” she said. “I’m happy that you opened up to someone, even if just another part of your mind. It’s the first step to interacting with your reality, but there will be no library filled with your mind for other people to read and understand you out there. Only small stories that try to define you, and I guess I’ll be one of those stories in the end. No matter what happens to me when the story ends, I need you to seek more, seek a connection in the real.”

“Reality is what you make of it,” I said. “Not what another tells you about it. I made you to be free of thought, free of will, in a space where anything is possible. This is my reality, at least for now, and this is how it should be.”

“There is always more,” Rebecca said and extended her index finger while still holding onto my arm. Together, we drew a five-pointed star in the sky and made it glow. To my surprise, the star transformed into a human figure of androgynous silhouette and descended to the float. “The star you chase is connection to your reality, not a single person from your past.” The figure sat with us on the float as we plummeted to the ground. Rebecca extended her hands and made a triangle of held hands. We landed with an impact, but the softness of the float surface absorbed it all. The star stood up and wrote in light on the air.

“Find me.” It said. With nothing more, the star ascended and joined the rest in the night sky.

“I-”

“You have to go,” Rebecca said.

“Yeah,” I said. “But thank you for this, Rebecca. You’re amazing.”

“I was made by an amazing person,” she said. “But I know you hate compliments. Go on. Get to work. I’ll be here.” I smiled again and vanished.
