Paper Universe (summaried plan)

Of the Explorer from another world

Tina is a human being, leading a life of little import among her kind. One things she excels at is folding paper into all manner of shapes. After her fourteenth birthday goes uncelebrated, due to both her parents being busy, she seeks to make some friends in the city she lives thanks to her elusive parents. Tina isn’t a brave girl, having to learn all her lessons from the fact that her parents weren’t there for her, and the woman who was taking care of her already passed away. Tina decides to fold a world for herself, somewhere where she would be regarded as someone important, or at least regarded. She starts with a giant modular piece and names it Modul, the planet of living origami models in the imagined Paper Universe. She decides to fold paper people to populate Modul and soon falls asleep beside the giant modular world. When she wakes, Tina can see a model in her hand, a black unicorn, but has no idea when she folded it, or how to fold one this stunning for that matter. She decides to unfold it and is shocked when the paper just keeps getting bigger until it inhales her whole. Now in the paper universe she herself created, Tina realizes that she is the only human being among the paper beings and looks for a way out, frightening the living models with her presence. Among her traveling, Tina meets a couple fleeing from an angry king, and the king cuts her with paper.

Of the Paper Cut

Continuing Tina’s story of meeting the angry king, she is cut by his sword, a paper cut. In retaliation, she crumples his sword and his crown. The king is afraid of her strength and retreats to his castle. The trapper and the princess find Tina and stop her bleeding. Thinking they are finally free, Tina sets out with them and becomes friends. She witnesses the trapper and the princess doing something she once saw her parents do and realizes that they remind her of her parents before work inhaled them whole. The paper cut heals, but already after doing irreversible damage. Tina’s skin is turning into paper. The princess concludes that she will eventually become just like them, one of the paper people. Tina says that she’s ok with that, but the trapper argues that it’s not that simple as she might never be able to come back to her world. Tina says that she’s fine with that, and mentions that nobody would even notice her being gone. Tina’s part comes to light in eyes of the trapper and the princess. They convince her to return and all three set out to find the folded chasm, where all things go who are lost between the folds of their minds.

 Of the Paper King

Every morning, the Paper King looks over his kingdom with joy. He eats with his family, rides with the Queen on his lands, and attends to disputes of his world with the other rulers. The cycle repeats until a stranger is sighted in the kingdom with is not made of paper. Everyone panics as the rulers gather for a summit on capturing this weirding and putting him into tests that determine what manner he is made of if not paper. When returned to his keep, the king is surprised by a visit from the world-renowned trapper, asking his daughter for a hand in marriage. He rages and throws the man into is dungeon. The Paper King rides out in great numbers, soured by his daughter riding off with a lowly trapper. Most of the force is crippled by traps and snares along the way. Only the king presses on with a small attachment. Instead of finding his daughter, the king stumbles across the stranger not made of paper and cuts her. The stranger flees, but tears off the king’s arm before doing so.

 Of the Paper Universe

In an improbable world of origami folded living beings, the whole world is made of paper. People go about their lives atop the world named Modul, folding other paper into desired shapes. Everything is made of paper, and thus can be something else. It can also be destroyed. Three mini stories explain the nature of this world. First speaks of a cutter, dedicated to the precise cutting of shapes for others to fold. Second one introduces a father, worried for his two sons getting lost between the folds because of their youthful minds. The third connects the two stories with a stranger not made of paper appearing in their world for a brief moment. All four are changed by meeting the stranger.

 Of the Trapper

Among the confines of the Paper Universe lives a trapper, folding paper traps to catch various beasts in their world, Modul. He is famous for his snares and mechanisms that allows even the most elusive of species to succumb to his skill. Being renowned, he is granted an audience with the Paper King, the ruler of Modul and the lands atop it. There, he asks for the most impossible thing, the hand of the princess. Enraged at his request, the king throws him in the dungeon, where the princess visits the trapper and eventually falls for him. Together, they flee the kingdom into the wilderness, sowing traps and mechanisms behind them to be free from the life of royalty.

Of Those Lost Between The Folds

In the conclusion of the tale, The kings sets out to find his daughter with the support of the whole world of Modul as the stranger who can crumple swords is with her. The force goes to the folded chasm and face the trio. Tina says that if the princess and the trapper go into the chasm, she can find them later, but only if they all jump together. The king pleads for his daughter not to jump into the darkness below, explaining that Modul has used the folded chasm for ages to rid their world of people like the trapper. Tina argues that the king is too protective of the princess and that he has to notice what she wants in life rather than what he wants. Tina realizes that she has to leave or her whole body would become just like theirs and she would never be able to return. The princess and the trapper say their farewells as only a pinky remains human on Tina’s body. Tina promises with her pinky to find the two of them in the folded chasm after she crosses back into her world. All three jump, much to the king’s despair. Tina wakes up in her room next to the giant modular world of her creation and finds the folded chasm, the model coming apart at one end with darkness within. She finds various models within and sets them back into the world, the trapper and the princess together again. Tina calls her parents and tells them that she wants to spend more time with them, to cut out some work to be with her. They agree. The black unicorn is no longer there and no matter how she tries to fold it that way again during her lifetime, she cannot.
